The Colombo International Film Festival, approved by the Sri Lankan Cabinet, is scheduled from July 8-14. Organized with support from the National Film Corporation and Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, it aims to revitalize the local film industry and boost tourism. The festival will feature over 34 award-winning films from countries such as Iran, France, India, South Korea, China, Japan, and Germany.
The initiative seeks to popularize global cinematography in Sri Lanka and position Colombo as a prominent South Asian tourist hub. It will also offer a platform for cultural exchange and economic development, attracting international judges and providing valuable experiences for local film students.
